Installation and Preparation

Are wall murals easy to put up?
Yes! The installation process of Azutura is quick and simple thanks to our pre-cut and labelled panels along with our step by step instructions. Find out more about our wallpaper installationhere.

 

What unit of measurement should I measure my wall in?
We require measurements in centimetres.

 

Can I install a wall mural on a freshly painted wall?
It’s advised you wait four to six weeks after painting to install your wall mural. This will ensure the paste creates a secure bond between the wall mural and the wall.

 

Do I need to prepare my wall for installation?

Yes - Before installation, make sure your walls are clean and free from dust and dirt.

Walls must be completely dry.

Walls painted with a silk paint should be roughened with sandpaper to ensure a tight bind.

 

What equipment do I need for installation?

It’s recommended you have the following for installation:

  • Scissors/scalpel
  • Bucket
  • Large brush
  • Rubber roller
  • Pencil
  • Tape measure
  • Spirit level
  • Decorators sponge

 

What types of walls can our wall murals be installed on?
The majority of walls will be compatible with a wall mural, however, textured walls should be avoided.

 

How do I install a wallpaper?
Installation is quick and easy but you must follow our instructions. Individual instructions are sent with each wall mural and can be found here.

 

How do I measure for my wall for a mural?

It’s recommended two people measure the wall. Measure the wall you want to cover with a tape measure and provide the highest and widest measurements.

Don’t include any skirting boards etc. as these will not be covered.

If ordering a wall mural for a section of the wall, measure the area ensuring the lines are straight. It’s recommended a pencil is used to mark the corners for reference when the print arrives.

If there are any obstacles, disregard these for the measurement.

Add an additional 5 to 10 cm to the height and width to trim during installation.

Do I need a pasting table for wallpaper installation?
No - Our wallpaper paste is applied directly to the wall avoiding the need for a pasting table.

 

I have an object on my wall where I’m installing the mural; what should I do?
Just ignore the object when you’re measuring your wall. Then, when you’re installing your wall mural, use a cutting tool to go around the obstacle and remover that section of the wallpaper.

 

What happens if I damage the wall mural whilst installing?
Although this is extremely uncommon, if you have any issues, please contact our Customer Service Team who will be able to help.

 

Should I use a decorator to install my wall mural?
Our installation process is so easy that even DIY newbies shouldn’t struggle. If you are using a decorator, we recommend ensuring they read our instructions

 

Removing Your Wall Mural

Can wall murals be removed?
Yes - Unlike traditional wallpaper, our wall murals are removed in individual sheets without damaging a wall.

 

How do I remove a wall mural?
Wall murals are designed to be removed easily in full sheets. Use a tool with a point to lift the top corner of the wall mural then, slowly pull each individual sheet down in a smooth motion.

 

Will my wall mural damage my wall when removed?
No - Wall murals are designed for an easy removal. Ensure you remove slowly to avoid any damage.

How long will my wall mural stay up?
We offer a quality guarantee of at least three years, however, it could be much longer than this if our installation and care advice is followed.

 

What are wall murals?
A wall mural is a piece of artwork that’s applied to a wall for decoration.

 

Can wall murals be reused?
Our wall murals have been designed for a single use in one location due to their extended lifespan.

 

What file type do you accept for custom wall murals?
We accept the majority of file types, however, if using a JPEG, the file size and quality must be as high as possible.

 

What sizes of wall mural are available?
The minimum size of a wall mural is 100cm by 100cm. The last mural width cannot be less than 10cm. There’s no maximum size available.

 

 

Are wall murals tacky?

Not at all! Both wall murals and wallpaper have been through a great evolution over recent years. What one may have been thought of as tacky and out-dated, has become a unique and eye-catching way of expressing your style! Designs usually feature stunning photographs from the world’s most talented photographers or unique animations.

If you meant tacky as in how they feel, the answer is also no. They have a smooth silk-like finish.

 

Can I install a wall mural in a high moisture area such as a bathroom?
Yes - As our wall murals are non-woven, they’re suitable for installation in bathrooms, kitchens etc. However, it’s best to avoid direct contact with water e.g. in a shower.

 

Can I change the colour of a wall mural?
All wall murals can be converted into black and white or sepia. Simply apply a filter on the product page.

 

Are wall murals flammable?
Paste the wall murals have a Commercial Fire Rating of B1 meaning they're difficult to ignite.

 

What is non-woven wallpaper and why does it matter?

Non-woven wall murals combine natural and synthetic materials to create a long-lasting, environmentally friendly wallpaper. It’s easier to install when compared to traditional wallpaper and can be cleaned with water without worries of mould. It also means you can paste directly onto the wall! Non-woven wallpaper also doesn’t shrink, ensuring the quality is industry leading.

 

What is a 3D wall mural?
A 3D wallpaper has an image with a three-dimensional effect including width, height and depth (length). This unique effect can make a wall mural more eye-catching.

 

Can wallpaper go over tiles?
It’s recommended you only apply our wall murals on a painted wall to ensure mural longevity.

 

Can wallpaper shrink?
No - Thanks to the non-woven 180gsm wallpaper we use, your wall mural won’t shrink. This helps maintain its edge to edge finish.

 

Can wallpaper go on top of my old wallpaper?
It’s recommended that our wall murals are installed on painted walls to ensure a long lifespan.

 

Can I use my own image for a wall mural?
Yes - simple input your image on the custom wall mural page or give us a call on 0191 303 7756.

 

Can wallpaper hide cracks?
Our wall murals are 180gsm, meaning they can be used to cover imperfections including small cracks

Delivery is available through Royal Mail or UPS.

How do I protect my wall mural?
To ensure you get a long lifespan for your wallpaper, ensure you follow our installation instructions and avoid areas where there’s direct contact with water such as a shower. Just clean using a soft sponge and warm water.
